What to look for in a good install

Plank fit

Wooden boards should sit flush against each other — no visible gaps. Gaps trap dirt, catch on bare feet, and tend to widen as the timber moves with the seasons.

Seam alignment

A good carpet seam vanishes into the surface — no ridge, no gap, no break in the pile. Get this wrong and the join shows for the life of the install.

Carpet stretching

Carpet should be stretched tight as it's installed — that's what keeps it flat. Skimp on the stretch and ripples develop within months, growing into trip hazards over time.

Install quality

Look at the details: chipped boards, uneven gaps, sloppy caulk. Rushed installs cut corners here first — and it's the first thing anyone notices.
